747 Jumbo Jet Fights Station Fire


We were listening to the Station Fire press conference on the radio and they were asked about the 747 coming to help fight the Station Fire, officials said they weren't sure if they would call it in. 15 minutes later we saw the 747 coming in to drop fire retardant on a hotspot in the Acton area. It made 3 separate drops on the area. A DC-10 (bottom photo)super tanker also dropped in the same area of Acton today.

Pyrocumulus Cloud Over Los Angeles

A pyrocumulus cloud also known as a" fire cloud" rises to heights near 20,000 feet over the Station Fire, in the Angeles National Forest northeast of Downtown LA. The cloud is caused by the heat from the fire. The fire has grown to over 45,000 acres and claimed the lives of two firefighters when their vehicle overturned in a heavy fire area.

The Station Fire sent up a huge plume over Los Angeles on Saturday. Residents in La Canada took matters into their own hands with a fire hose to wet down the area around their home.

Fire Above La Canada Day 3


The Station Fire continues to rage just above La Canada-Flintridge. The good news is firefighters have managed to keep it away from homes so far. The blaze has scorched more than 5,100 acres.
This is a stubborn fire, that keeps growing and is now moving towards Altadena.

La Canada and Rancho Palos Verdes Fires August 27

A new fire started on Thursday evening in the upscale Rancho Palos Verdes , joining other fires including the Station Fire above La Canada. Extreme heat helped fuel the fires, but firefighters and residents caught a break in that winds are very low.The Station Fire with Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley in the distance

Two Fires Burn in Angeles National Forest


Two wildfires are burning today in the Angeles National Forest, these photos are from the fire that began this afternoon off Angeles Crest Highway around mile marker 29, just above La Canada-Flintridge. The other fire which started yesterday, the 750 acre Morris fire, also in the Angeles National Forest, continues to burn out of control about 20 miles to the east. Air quality in the basin has deteriorated due to the smoke. There is a red flag warning in effect due to high heat and low humidity levels

National Go Topless Protest Day Sponsored by a UFO Cult Hits Venice Beach

A group of women and some men too participated in National Go Topless Protest Day sponsored by the UFO Cult "Raelian Movement" According to the website GoTopless.org, women across the nation are encouraged to bare their breasts in public. They claim that because men are legally allowed to bare their chests, women should have the equal protection under the law and be allowed to do the same via the 14th Amendment. The women must wear pasties to avoid arrest.

RAM - Free Medical Care in Los Angeles Thru Tuesday


Remote Medical Access has been providing free medical service since last week at the Forum in Inglewood. Thousands of people have been treated by an army of volunteers, there are only two days left as they wrap up here in LA on Tuesday, August 18. RAM usually goes to third world areas where care is urgently needed, but they are a huge number of people in need here in the States so they have come to LA. It is an amazing sight to see. While they are no more openings for patients, apparently they are in need of volunteers. Check the website for RAM hereaccording to RAM, approximately 2,700 volunteers has served over 8K patients with approx $2million worth of free servces @ no cost to taxpyr or govt in the first 6 days.

SWAT Standoff at LA Federal Building in Westwood


Police used a taser on the suspect at the Federal Building in Westwood, then removed him from the car, ending a standoff that lasted all day. He was able to walk away under his own power. Earlier, Officers fired a chemical agent into the car holding 4 times in an effort to get the man out of the car. He reportedly made threats to blow up the White House. The man was still in the vehicle 8 hours after this situation began at his home in Westchester, he was followed by police and it became a pursuit to the Federal Building, where a long standoff ensued.
